interested in and what you wanted to be.
Well, that’s not the case for everyone, but you don’t have to be panic
if you don’t have a clear vision of it.
Here’s a few suggestions of what you can do to find out bits and pieces
of your interest!
1) Self-awareness
The best way to choose your future pathway is first to understand
yourself.
Having self-awareness means that you know who you are, your
personality, your likes and dislikes, your strength and weakness.
Pay attention to your daily life, the way you speak, your attitude and
your thoughts.
You can do some personality tests to learn more about yourself too.
However, do take the result just as reference, it isn’t 100% accurate. Everyone
is the special one!
2) Have deep conversations
Talk to family and friends especially adults or those older than you.
Ask them about their opinions and thoughts. Or at least they are able to share
what they’ve experienced.
Career of your parents can be one of your choice too. If you have
relatives that is currently studying or working, why not take this opportunity
to know more about what their career does?
3) Read as many as you can
The reason that you couldn’t make choices is because of the lack of
understanding in that field.
Reading biography, articles and stories allows you to learn indirectly.
Even if you couldn’t draw well, it wouldn’t take you long to read an
article about how Jimmy Choo become a
successful designer.
Never let your curiosity remains only curiosity. Curious of anything?
Search on the internet and read!
4) Watch movies and TV series
Love watching movies and TV series?
Don’t just focus on the cringe love stories of the main characters.
Watch everything! There must be a
various of occupations in it.
Watch what they do, and what problems will they face.
Find and watch different storylines. Learn from them but be sure to
differentiate fantasy and reality elements in it.
You can get some ideas from movies and TV series you’ve watched.
5) Imagine your future
Imagine the working space you would like to have. What kind of working
styles will it be? Repeating the same process or having new challenges
everyday? Do you prefer to have a fixed working time and place? Do you prefer
to communicate with people?
What is your ideal salary range? And how will you achieve that?
List down all your preferences and look up in the internet for your
ideal career.
Give some thoughts about it.
You can try career tests online too!
6) Take your time
It’s nothing wrong with having no decisions on your future pathway.
Give yourself time to think and discover.
If you really couldn’t choose what to study, choose the ones you feel
more likely to get close to.
